The verification file is written by GrandTotal under File Info, Verify, Export. Checked here are the signatures of the saves against the keys this server derives, and the hash chain of the saves. The server receives hashes and names only, no content. Nothing is stored. Saves from before the switch to the current file format carry no signature; that is not a finding.

Requirement

Current file format only

The check needs a verification file from a GrandTotal file in the current file format. Only there does every save carry its hash and its signature.

How to tell

Under File Info, the entry “Verify” appears only for a file in this format. If it is missing, the file is in the older format.

Older files

An older file keeps its format. After a switch, its saves from before count as unsigned; that is not a finding.
