What is the difference between subscriptions and traditional licenses?

Traditional licenses get new features only with a paid upgrade to the next higher major version, while subscriptions can add features with minor version jumps.

With subscriptions, individual functions can be deactivated for employees on request. For example, you can hide the sales statistics or the invoice overview.

Traditional licenses are only available as upgrades for existing customers (see Upgrades).

How long is a subscription license valid?

Subscriptions are always valid for the period booked - regardless of the current version.


How long is a traditional license valid?

Licenses are valid for a major version number with no limitations. This is the first digit in a version number.

Example

If you buy version 3.1 of a product, the license will be valid for all versions of that product that start with 3..

Upgrades

Conventional upgrades are available for licenses that date 2 versions back. E.g. you can upgrade from version 5 to 7, but not from version 4. For older versions, pick a plan.

For large upgrades there is an upgrade fee to pay. Upgrades are voluntary and can be skipped. An increased major version number indicates than an update that contains a significant amount of new features.

How do I activate a license?

When purchasing a license you will get a mail with a license file attached to your primary PayPal mail (Sometimes this mail can be found in your Spam folder). Just double click the file called "License.productname" and the program will be launched and activated.

How many licenses do I need?

Licenses are per user. Installing your license on multiple Macs is fine, as long as you are the sole user of the license. For example, you can use one license on both your desktop and laptop, but not on all your employees' Macs.
