Cumulative Partial Invoices

Invoice what has been done

Larger jobs are invoiced in stages: after each stage comes a partial invoice for the work done. In GrandTotal you keep adding the work to the final invoice, which stays a draft until the end. Each partial invoice shows all work done to date and deducts the partial invoices already issued.

In the example, a bathroom is renovated in three stages and invoiced in three invoices (gross prices incl. 19% VAT, as is usual for a private customer):

StageItemsAmount
1st partial invoiceDemolition and disposal, plumbing and electrical rough-in7,380.00
2nd partial invoiceShower waterproofing, wall and floor tiles4,311.00
Final invoiceFixture installation, final cleaning3,725.00

First partial invoice

Create the final invoice and enter the items of the first stage. In the final invoice's menu, Create Partial invoices → Cumulative by progress creates the first partial invoice. It bills everything the final invoice contains so far. Sending it locks its items and its amount.

Every further partial invoice

When the next stage is done, add its items to the final invoice and create the next partial invoice with the same menu item. It shows all work done so far and deducts the partial invoices already issued.

What the invoices show

Subtotals make the invoice easier for the customer to follow. Each stage closes with its own total, and that total comes back as a deduction on the next invoice.
